Help my sister figure out pants pockets!

My sister just spent forever drafting her own pants block pattern, and she's finally ready to start sewing! But she's totally stuck on placing the back welt pockets.

She knows what size she wants and where to put them horizontally, but she can't figure out the right angle.
She's looked through all her books and can't find any rules or guidelines. Is it just a matter of eyeballing it, or is there a trick to getting a good placement?
What to do to make everything simpler? any wisdom would be a huge help!

Try putting them in line with your waistband or angling them a bit toward the back, 3–5° works just fine. Use chalk to mark it, and test it on some scrap material first.

Try pinning a paper pocket to your clothes at different angles to see what looks best. Use a mirror or take some photos from behind to check the view from all sides. This will help you avoid weird placements that you might miss otherwise.
