How to keep stitch lengths steady?

I’m practicing decorative stitches, but they never look even. I measured carefully, yet some stitches end up longer than others. How do you keep your stitch lengths consistent?

Totally normal! Decorative stitches rely on consistent fabric movement, so if the fabric stretches or shifts even a little, the stitch length changes. A tear‑away stabilizer under the fabric keeps everything steady and much more even.
