New to the site and wanting to know more. Looking for tips on various aspects of home sewing and how to use an overlocker

Hi All,
My name is Karen Wasikowska. I am 62 and live in Derby. I have retired from work and have been dabbling with my machine. I only do basic things like shortening sleeves and hems, but would be interested in joining a local group to learn more. When I was young I used to make clothes without patterns, but I'm not that brave now. I find learning easier with someone to show me face to face, so if I can find info here it would be great
P.S. I have a brand new overlocker and just got it out of the box after about 10 years and I think threading it is like mission impossible, so need help there too

You can look up the machine and model online and get the manual (often for free) which should help with threading. Is it an overlock machine or a serger?

Sometimes on the right front of the machine, there is a door that opens down, that shows the thread path.
Also, look up your machine model on YouTube and you may find basic instruction videos on how to get started.
Most of the time, you would need a traditional sewing machine to finish your sewing clothing.
