My friend in Japan sent me some truly beautiful, pure silk, and I'm scared to cut into it!
I have 4 meters of baby blue and 2 meters of pink.
What are some good, beginner friendly patterns that would work well with silk? I'm happy to buy a pattern, but I'd especially love any free designs you know of! Help me decide what to make!

That sounds gorgeous! If you want something low‑stress, try a silk scarf or wrap. It’s basically a big rectangle, but it lets you practice cutting and hemming without risking heartbreak. Plus, the baby blue would make a gorgeous oversized wrap.

I have a few close Japanese friends, and I can tell you that Japanese people use silk to make things like formal kimonos, luxurious accessories (scarves, ties), intricate hair ornaments (kanzashi), high end apparel, and rich home textiles. this probably can add you some ideas
