I’m new here and just learning to sew. I want to try drafting my own pattern from measurements, but I keep getting stuck! My lines don’t match up, and the fit looks off. I’m excited to make something that’s mine, but I’m not sure where to start. Any beginner-friendly tips?? Thanks everyone!

You may want to buy a commercial pattern, then make adjustments to it. Get to know patterns and then try to draft one off your measurements.
And you'll need drafting rulers. to help with the curves needed, etc.

I recently lost my set similar to this, I think I'm missing one or two rulers. Will check online! Thanks for the suggestion!

as a beginner, you need to start with a basic shape like a straight skirt, a simple tshirt block, or an a-line dress
also, make sure you take accurate measurements. it wouldn't work if it's inaccurate
Use a flexible tape measure and measure close to your body but not too tight

Hi, there is an application on Google Play, called Tailor Base, It generates the PDF printout of the bodice or skirt based on your measurements, and for bodice its about 20 measurements which makes the bodice really adjusted. I tried myself for different type of bodies - narrow shoulders, large bust etc. Works very well, almost no adjustmeents needed. Except the armhole would be a little deeper, but this can be adjusted after fitting.

Starting with a simple basic block can make pattern drafting much easier. First, double-check your body measurements and make sure the tape is level and not too tight.Draw the main horizontal and vertical guidelines before adding curved areas such as the neckline, armhole, and hip. It also helps to label each pattern piece and compare matching seam lengths before cutting the fabric.
For your first attempt, test the pattern in inexpensive muslin or scrap fabric. This will help you identify fitting problems and correct uneven lines before using your final fabric.
