Found a sewing machine at a yard sale

I grabbed a Singer 401A at a yard sale last weekend. It runs, but the tension feels off and stitches aren’t great. I’m new to older machines should I spend time and money fixing it, or just keep it as a fun vintage piece? Anyone here fixed one up? Was it worth it?

Hey htere @littlew0lf! I had mine serviced because I use it daily for my shop. The repair was under $100 and now it’s my go-to machine. If you’re just collecting, it’s a nice display piece, but if you sew, fixing it is worth it!

Have you cleaned out the bobbin area for fuzz, etc. And a new needle and good quality thread? That can resolve many minor issues.
After that, I'd take it in for a good cleaning and tune-up. That is a good Singer model.
