For anyone who worked on a Butterick 6746 skirt pattern, is it possible to to keep the flat front but add an elastic back to the high waistband? what changes should I make to the pattern for the best fit? Thanks so much!

Yep, you can keep the flat front and add elastic to the back waistband, so just slash and spread the back pattern, then add elastic casing, it'll give stretch and comfort

Why are you looking to add an elastic back, are you hoping for more comfort, easier fitting, or planning to skip a zipper for simplicity?

Great idea, but I'd worry about bunching or distortion at the side seams, maybe add side seam allowance for casing and ease, but test on muslin first to be sure
