Missing waistband piece from Burda 9423

Bought this Burda 9423 baby pattern at a local flea market last weekend but the waistband piece is missing. I'm pissed I didn't notice it earlier. It looks like it's just a simple rectangle, so I can estimate the length from the waistline, but I'm not sure how tall it should be depending on baby ages. Does anyone have this pattern and can share the waistband height or overall dimensions for those sizes?

I had a similar experience with an old Butterick pattern I picked up. For Burda 9423, baby waistbands typically measure around 1.5 to 2 inches tall, depending on the size. Just measure the waistline length, include the seam allowance, and cut a rectangle to that height. Doing a quick test fit with some scrap fabric really helps get it just right.

this is some good advice, but it requires a lot of guesswork and testing. Why not go back to the market and see if the person has the waistband piece? Even if you don't get it you'll at least be able to measure it.

If you can't find the original waistband dimensions, would you consider adjusting the height to suit comfort and style, or do you want an exact replica?

Here are some common heights for baby waistbands: 1.5 for 0-3 months, 1.75 for 3-6 months, 2 for 6-12 months, and 2.25 for 12-18 months. Remember to add extra for your seam. For the length, measure the waist and add 1-2 inches so it overlaps easily. If the fabric is light, you might want to add interfacing.

this is some good advice, but it requires a lot of guesswork and testing. Why not go back to the market and see if the person has the waistband piece? Even if you don't get it you'll at least be able to measure it.

It os a simple exercise not worth trying to find the vendor on the off-chance they have the piece. They probably bought it at a garage sale anyway.
