Perfect gardening overalls

My body has changed over the years, and a regular waistband just doesn't work for me anymore, especially when I'm gardening. I’ve decided to make some overalls using my favorite work pants pattern. The tricky part is the top. I have a large bust, and I don't want the side of the bib to gap or be too revealing. I’m looking for ideas on how to design the perfect bib and straps that will be comfortable and offer good coverage. What kind of top shape or strap style have you found works best for a large bust and any tips for getting a good fit?

For a great fit across the chest, princess seams or darts can contour gently without pulling or gapping. A wider bib that goes almost to the sides prevents any overflowing and gives a smooth look. A slightly scooped neckline works better than a straight one, keeping coverage without the extra bulk.

Hey @smokedcorn I usually go with a slightly higher bib and wider straps to keep everything covered and comfy but you can also angle the side seams a bit toward the center so the bib sits closer to your body without gaping

Don’t forget that fabric choice matters a lot. If your bib is cut in flimsy fabric it’ll stretch or warp and worsen the gaping. Use a stable medium-weight cotton or twill. Also add a full bust adjustment (FBA) to the upper pattern (or bib) so the front has enough room... tutorials on FBAs are everywhere.

I don't understand why it's gonna be revealing, because you definitely would wear a t-shirt or other top with your overalls, right? but, if you still want another kind of bib style, you probably can make a wider and higher bib that can cover your chest
