I have 2 jerseys in my stash, same weight and content. I cut wide strips for my sister’s pajama top and thought about making a striped fabric for myself too. Has anyone tried joining them crosswise versus lengthwise?

I tried crosswise once and it stretched out fast. Lengthwise held up better for me. What are you making with it?

I’m leaning toward lengthwise for stability and plan to cut and test a small panel this week before committing to the full top. Do you usually stabilize your seams when working with jersey stripes or just rely on the fabric’s natural recovery?

Crosswise stripes look cool but can twist after a few washes if the grainlines aren’t matched perfectly. If you go that route, stabilize the seams with clear elastic or stay tape. Lengthwise stripes are safer if you want fewer surprises later.

Thanks for flagging the twisting risk. I’ll test a small panel lengthwise and add clear elastic to seams. Do you find stay tape holds up better than elastic after multiple washes?
