Zipper nightmare

Okay I need tips or sorcery. I tried installing a zipper three times and it’s still crooked. Is there a trick to getting it straight??

Hand baste it or use wash-a-way basting tape.
Make sure you're sewing in the same direction on both sides (bottom to top OR top down) on both sides. Don't go down on one side and up on the other. Your zipper foot can be flipped side to side to achieve this.
I aways have to baste especially on fleece jackets. Both the zipper and the fabric stretch, this keeps them fixed while sewing.
