Thread trouble on my Kenmore

I'm working on my grandma's old Kenmore and it's been acting up. I noticed tha the thread snaps every few inches. I cleaned it and oiled it but no luck. Any tips for older machines like this? Appreciate your help

Thanks for sharing! Quick question: have you checked the tension settings and the needle type? Older machines can be picky about thread weight too. What kind of thread are you using?
